Veterans and Service Members can apply to receive Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) classes and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) through the VA Equine Therapy-23 Grant awarded to STAT Inc. Does Within RANGE see clients in person or only Telepsychology?

Only Equine Assisted Therapy and EMDR sessions (EquiLateral™), and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) classes are offered at STAT® Inc at 24 Stom Rd in Ligonier, PA 15658.

Within RANGE provides virtual (not in person) Telepsychology with Wally (Therapy dog) over SimplePractice, a secure HIPAA compliant platform for adults aged 19 years and older who live in Pennsylvania and PSYPACT States. Telepsycholgy is practiced in accordance with the American Psychological Association’s (APA) guidelines for Telepsychology services.

PSYPACT states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Does Within RANGE take Insurance?

Within RANGE is private pay only and does not accept or process insurance. Accepted payment includes credit or debit cards, Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flex Savings Account (FSA) cards paid through SimplePractice client portal with integrated Stripe processing.

If you use your Out-of-Network (OON) insurance benefit, you can request an itemized receipt from Within RANGE (i.e., receipt of payment, diagnosis, and CPT codes), to be provided for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

What about doing therapy over text and email?

Within RANGE provides therapy in a secure and HIPAA compliant Telehealth intake and does not provide therapy though client portal messaging, encrypted/unencrypted email, chat, or text.

What happens after I leave a voicemail or submit the contact form for a free consultation call?

Within RANGE calls within 48 hours Mon-Fri, except for weekends and holidays, to schedule a free 15 to 20 minute consultation to determine if it is the right pathway for you. Click Contact for info.

What services are NOT provided by Within RANGE?

Within RANGE is a small private practice with limited availability and does not treat all behavioral health conditions (See Services). Within RANGE’s scope of practice does not provide individual services for anyone under the age of 19; or offer forensic evaluations to include custody, court-ordered mandated treatments, and anger management.

Services are not appropriate for persistent serious mental illness, on-call intensive crisis interventions, or couples therapy. Click link for Resource options and reduced rate care through Open Path options.

What is Adjunct Equine Assisted Therapy (AEAT) and Learning?

Individuals already receiving psychotherapy can discuss with their clinician if Equine Assisted sessions are recommended.

Once agreed Within RANGE is right next step during the phone consultation, what happens next?

Within RANGE sends a client portal link sign documents, and sets an appointment.

What is Dr. Jenkins-Fernández’s theoretical orientation in therapy?

Eclectic: Cognitive-Behavioral, Existential and Experiential therapies are utilized to match client’s preferences and needs.

What does EMDR Certification mean?

Dr. Jenkins-Fernández sought training after EMDR Basic Training 1 & 2 and is certified through EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).

Is EA-EMDR done via Telepsychology?

No. EA-EMDR (EquiLateral™) is only done in person at STAT® with equines, and an Equine Specialist.

Where are Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) sessions and Learning (EAL) classes provided? ​

In-person EAP and EAL sessions are done at STAT® in Ligonier, PA with Dr. Jenkins-Fernández, equines, and an Equine Specialist.

What does the Logo mean?

The Within RANGE mission is reflected in the Logo’s process arrows Reset | Align | Navigate | Gear up | Emerge (click link for Infographic). The Logo started as a napkin drawing of Wally inviting a client to pick up a “phone” tin can connected to a dialogue of healing. Additionally, the string and cans look like EMDR’s tappers and wires. Designer “G Roland” elevated the design to include generational military heritage.

Does Within RANGE actually work with penguins?

No. Penguins are amazing birds and of course hockey players, too. Penguins help demonstrate the RANGE mission: Reset | Align | Navigate | Gear up | Emerge (click link for Infographic).
